It’s hard to believe, given how it glistens in the sun, but his hair isn’t even the fifth-most impressive thing about Derek D. Buck.
A professional writer, Internet personality and expert on geek culture, Buck has informed and entertained nerds for more than half a decade. His work has reached tens of millions of readers and viewers, some of whom must have enjoyed it a little.
Buck is the host of CGRundertow, a web series for video game reviews, features and editorials. The show posts several videos daily for more than 67,000 subscribers. In addition to his editorial work, Buck also writes and directs comedy bits for the series. Since 2010, CGRundertow has had more than 54 million views.
Prior to his professional media career, Buck was an accomplished student writer. An alumnus of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science.
During his junior year of college, Buck wrote a political column for his campus newspaper, The Penn. For his work, he received a Keystone Press Award, a yearly honor recognizing Pennsylvania journalists who further First Amendment values and consistently provide relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers.
After graduation, Buck began his professional career as a senior editor with the popular Nintendo blog Infendo. In addition to contributing Wii and Nintendo DS coverage, Buck also co-hosted the Infendo Radio podcast with author and journalist Blake Snow. With Buck as a host, its audience more than doubled in size and reached thousands of listeners each week.
